The Walled City
One day in Manila we took a trip to the history rich Walled City of Intramuros. This is an old fort built by the Spanish in in the 1500's during their rule in the Philippines. The thick fortified walls were also a home to the American Military, and in World War II the Japanese Army.
It was very interesting to learn the history of this place, to walk were battles had been won and lost, and so many had needlessly perished. In the middle of the walls was a beautiful, lush park that was a nice retreat from the madness of Manila. There were some really neat plants and flowers there, the likes of which we had never seen.

This was a really neat Cathedral within the Walled City. The intricacy of the architecture, statues etc. was very cool.
